Peacefully at home on Monday, February 17. Gerald (Jerry), 85.
Sweetheart of Lois (Hudson) for 60 years.
Dearest dad of Howard (Edie). Dear pop of Stuart (Maryann).
Caring grandpa of Crystal and Steven.
Big brother of Shirley Bradish and Barb and Jim McLachlan.
Brother in law of Helen Munro and Marion Hudson.
Nephew of dear aunts, Madaline, Aldene, Mabel and Glo. Survived by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his mother Helen Lawson (2012); father Harry Johnston (1938); stepfather Ivan Wright (1989); brothers in law Ed Bradish (2010), Ron Munro (2011), Robert Hudson (2015) and Leslie Hudson (2018).
Jerry was employed for 46 years with CNR and together with Lois they operated Johnston's Variety in Avon for 19 years.
At Jerry's request, cremation has taken place. No visitation or service. Private interment at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the War Amps, 2827 Riverside Drive, Ottawa, ON K1V 8N4, VON - St Thomas (Elgin - Middlesex), 175 S. Edgeware Road W., St. Thomas, ON N5P 4C4 or to the London Regional Cancer Program, c/o London Health Sciences Foundation, 747 Baseline Road E., London, ON N6C 2R6 would be appreciated.
Our thanks to so many caring friends, family and our wonderful helpful neighbours; Sister Shirley and Grace Bradish for their loving guidance; Cousins Myrna and Judy Johnston, JoAnn and Jack Urquhart, Marg, Earl and Linda Sauer for their visits and phone calls; Attorney Don Ferguson and assistant Holly for their expertise; Jean Johnson for kind offer; Jerry's great CNR buddy Wayne McCallum; Dr. Ernst and all the incredible staff at LHSC Cancer Clinic along with all of the VON's from the outreach team and especially Dr. MacLean for his compassion and our angel Jody.
We will always remember Family Day and so many special people.
