Obituary of Audrey Young

Shortly after her 94th birthday on December 31st, Audrey Young's body ended its long struggle with Alzheimers. She is predeceased by her brother Duncan and husband Donald and survived by her children Harold, Valerie (Ed), Norman and Velma (Mike); grandchildren Joshua, Nathan, Rachel, Emily, Nicole and Erica; great grandchildren Kaelin, Vaughn and Isabelle. In 1957, Audrey and her friend Jean, left their birthplace of Walthamstow, London, England and embarked on what they had planned to be a world tour. As chance would have it, they met and married brothers at their first stop, Canada. Don and Audrey began their married life on his farm near Mossley, Ontario. Audrey demonstrated her love through Christian faith and acts of service. You may recall her many talents and roles as a skilled cellist, avid gardener and preserver, Scrabble contender, diligent laboratory technologist and chiropodist, committed swimmer, eloquent writer and eager traveler. She also volunteered on the Family Council at London Psychiatric Hospital as well as many Christian committees and outreaches. A memorial service will be held at Hope Congregational Christian Fellowship on Sunday, February 12 at 1:00 p.m. A reception, including afternoon tea, will be in the lower level of the Pioneer's Building 51 Byron Avenue, Dorchester, Ontario.
