In Loving Memory of Mary Margaret Kaiser (nee Henderson)
Peacefully at Southbridge London Mary Margaret Kaiser passed into the arms of the Lord on Saturday November 25th, 2023.
Mary, the beloved wife of Keith Kaiser, left a legacy of love and devotion. Cherished mother of John (Angel), Bill (Lorrie) and Martha (Brad), and a loving grandmother to Jo and Danny Miller-Kaiser, Stephanie, Ashley and Daniel Kaiser, James and Kyla Gwalchmai. Predeceased by her parents, Eunice and Joe Henderson, her angelic granddaughter, Emme Gwalchmai and daughter-in-law Katherine Miller-Kaiser. Mary was a beloved sister to Katherine Grant (Bob) and sister-in-law Donna Harrison (Gordon deceased). Mary will be missed by her close friends Tom and Pauline and her many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
A dedicated educator, Mary taught for Essex County, Middlesex County and The Thames Valley Board, retiring in 2003, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of many students.
Mary was always active in her community. In Essex, Mary was a playground supervisor, Girl Guide (Canada Cord), Girl Guide leader and a leader in the United Church Young Peoples Union. It was through the YPU that Mary and Keith met.
In Pittsburgh Mary was active in Welcome Wagon and was the Junior Choir leader in her church. In Dorchester, over the past 40+ years, Mary has been a Girl Guide Leader, a Kinette, a 4H leader, an adult figure skater, a substitute teacher, a service club caterer, and a census taker to name just a few of her activities.
Mary was a co-founder of the Dorchester Ringette Association and remained an active member of Ontario Ringette for over 35 years. For 19 years, Mary held the position of chair of the Western Region and served as a Director on the Ontario Ringette Provincial Board. Western Region Ringette, two years ago, established a scholarship in her name. Her contributions earned her the title of Provincial Builder in 2006 and a well-deserved place in the Ontario Ringette Hall of Fame.
An active member of Dorchester United Church, Mary served on various committees and boards, including six years as Board Chair, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to her faith community.
Mary’s passion for community extended to her involvement in the DDAA including the Dorchester Girls Fastball Association where she served in various capacities, including Chair also serving a term as Chair of the Tri-Couty Girls Fastball Association. For several years, as a volunteer, Mary staffed and ran the ballpark booth. The whole family spent many nights serving food to the area ball teams and fans.
After her retirement, Mary was approached and took on Director of the Seniors Center choir The Dorchester Choristers.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 1st 2023, from 1-4 & 7-9 at the Bieman Funeral Home (3970 Hamilton Road, Dorchester) with a funeral service following on December 2nd 2023 at 1:30 p.m. at Dorchester United Church (4100 Catherine Street, Dorchester). Friends and family are invited to join the Kaiser family in sharing memories after the funeral in the basement of the church following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Dorchester United Church, Western Region Ringette - Mary and Keith Kaiser Scholarship, Diabetes Canada or to the organization of your choice.
