Obituary of Timothy John Holmes

Timothy John Holmes, 78, of Dorchester, Ontario passed away January 8th after suffering a heart attack. He was surrounded by his family. Tim was born June 19, 1942 to Catherine and Jack Holmes of Invergowrie, Scotland. He was married to Heather (Main), the love of his life, for 53 years and is survived by his children Kevin (Shea), Heather Jr. and Samantha (Ken O'Brien); his sister Evelyn (Howard Davies) in Scotland; grandkids Joey, Jacob and Maggie; nephew Ross Davies; niece Rhiannon Davies; his Aunt Helen and Uncle Bobby and many relatives and friends throughout Scotland. Tim was predeceased by his parents Catherine Rose and John William Holmes of Scotland. Tim graduated from Lawside RC Academy in Dundee in 1960 and attended St. Andrews University to study accounting. He married Heather Main on May 28, 1966 and emigrated with his young family to Canada in 1971, settling in Sault Ste. Marie, following his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Norrie and Morag McLellan. Tim's work career spanned 38 years as a Chartered Accountant. He fondly remembers the close friends and colleagues that he worked with at Tessier and Smith (1971-1974); Algoma University College (1974-1979); Huron Superior Catholic School Board (1979-2003) and London District Catholic School Board (2003-2009). Tim will always be remembered for his love of Celtic and Folk music, exemplified by his numerous years of performing with the talented group of musicians in Blarney. Upon his retirement, he turned his attention to writing and crafted a book of family history entitled "Just How Lucky - 75 years of Living in a Loving Family." Truly, his greatest accomplishment was being a loving husband, father and grandfather. Cremation has taken place. A private family inurnment service will be held at the Dorchester Union Cemetery Columbarium.
