Obituary of Shirley Corinne Morris

Peacefully at Spruce Lodge, Stratford on Sunday, October 17, 2021. Shirley Corrine Morris, in her 84th year. Wife of the late Robert James Morris (2005) and were married 43 years. Wife of James Stewart Dickenson of Denfield, married in 2017. Predeceased by James’ daughter Cindy Ferguson (nee Dickenson) and survived by James’ son Thomas Dickenson. Dear daughter of the late Norman and the late Ilene Hartwick, and sister of Marvin (Orrie) Hartwick of St. Marys. Dear daughter of the extended Smale family, survived by her stepfather Stuart Smale, and sister to Blake (Margaret) Smale, Gary (Samantha), Ken (the late Dianne) Smale, Karen (Jim) McLagan, Lori (Don) Ward, and Ellen (Al) Haid. Dear mother of Jim (Jane), of Campbellville, Steven (Moira) of Oakville, and Dean (Lisa) of Dorchester. Loving grandmother of Robert, Catherine, Jessica, Christine, Donalda, Justin and Michael. A dedicated and passionate teacher, Shirley attended London Teacher’s college and taught in the London School System. She graduated with an Associate Piano Teacher’s Diploma from the Western Ontario Conservatory of Music and had a successful career as a piano teacher. She was an active member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association and taught a wide range of ages from the very young to the Associate level, in groups, in private, of teacher theory, music history and teacher’s pedagogy. Visitation will be at the Bieman Funeral Home, 3970 Hamilton Road, Dorchester (Friday, October 22, 2020, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 pm). Due to COVID 19 protocols, if you wish to attend the visitation, you are required to telephone the funeral home at (519)-268-7672 to register your name and telephone and the desired time you wish to visitation. Face masks/coverings and proof of full vaccination plus government issued photo identification are deemed mandatory. A private service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 11 am at Dorchester United Church, 4100 Catherine Street, Dorchester, Ont. followed by a graveside service at the Dorchester Union Cemetery.
